This is AfroChristianity, a blog for and by Gen Z and millennial African Christians.
We love Jesus and have been captivated by the Christian story proclaimed 2000 years ago: that God has entered into human history through the person of Jesus Christ — and through His life, death and resurrection- reconciled humankind, creation and the cosmos back to Godself.
We are compelled to bear witnesses and proclaim Gods victory over the powers of sin and death- through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And moved to participate in Gods ongoing work of redeeming humanity, creation and the cosmos- through relationship and communion with Jesus Christ.
In in our personal lives we cultivate daily rhythms of prayer, Bible reading, fasting, silence, solitude, repentance and fellowship with other believers.
Our faith inspires us towards action in the form of activism, lament, solidarity with the oppressed and challenging theologies and structures that denigrate the environment and humans beings made in the image of God.
We affirm the authority of scripture and want to converse with, celebrate and critique the Christian traditions we’ve inherited.
Lastly, we hope to engage contemporary - Pan-African, anti- colonial, poor, Feminist, Trans, Queer and disabled struggles- for justice, empowerment and dignity - within and outside the African church, continent and diaspora.
We are dedicated to disrupting existing narratives about African Christians and will be sharing unique perspectives from writers on the continent and within the diaspora.
You will find reflections on discipleship, spiritual formation, decolonizing and reconstructing Christian faith, activism, theology, history, politics, culture and the arts that are accessible to the average church go-er - for the good of the church and God’s mission in the world.
We especially seek to provide a platform for voices traditionally on the margins of the church because of age, socio-economic status or lack thereof, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual and romantic orientation, gender identity and expression, and geography.
